My Approach

I work alongside all my clients, collaboratively developing goals that matter to them. I have an extensive background in community mental health and have helped individuals cope with symptoms related to their chronic mental illness, as well as those suffering from Substance Use Disorders, Anxiety and Depression. I also have years of experience working with Autistic children and young adults, as well as their families. In addition, I absolutely love helping couples and families work on improving their communication!

I incorporate evidenced based modalities (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and understand that every individual requires a tailored approach to help them unlock their potential. I am also fully trained in EMDR Therapy.

Whether it’s helping people challenge irrational beliefs that prevent them from being happy or incorporating a solution-focused view to reach their goals, I stay flexible and provide a non-judgmental environment.

As I continue overcoming my own hardships, I am reminded that everyone has an innate potential to achieve their goals if given the proper nourishment and environment. As a therapist, I work on fostering a special bond between myself and each client, taking a client-centered approach that respects the unique experiences that every individual brings.

Treatment Approach

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on how thoughts shape feelings and behaviors. By identifying and changing unhelpful beliefs, clients can develop healthier patterns of thinking and acting. Structured and collaborative, CBT often includes homework and has been proven effective for issues like anxiety and depression, typically in a relatively short time.

Motivational Interviewing

(MI)

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that helps clients explore ambivalence and build motivation for change. It’s often used to help motivate individuals to overcome substance abuse.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

(EMDR)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps clients process trauma. Using guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation, clients focus on distressing thoughts or feelings and then learn to release them—much like watching scenery pass by from a moving train.

Solution Focused Brief (SFBT)

Solution-focused therapy, or “brief therapy,” emphasizes clients’ goals and strengths rather than problems. Therapists help clients envision a preferred future and build on successes to create meaningful change.

Family / Marital

Family/Marital therapy includes work with families or couples to help them improve their communication skills, build on the positive aspects of their relationships, and repair the harmful or negative aspects.

Strength-Based

Strength-based therapy focuses on clients’ strengths and resilience rather than weaknesses. By building on positive qualities, it helps foster a healthier mindset, greater confidence, and more balanced expectations.
